City of Westlake’s First Public Art Installation

The “Orange Peel” sculpture, designed by artist Ralfonso, marks the first public art installation in the City of Westlake, introducing a vibrant and creative focal point to the growing community. Situated within James Business Park, a 154,600-square-foot eCommerce facility in the heart of Westlake, the sculpture reflects the city’s commitment to innovation, aesthetics, and thoughtful design. Cotleur & Hearing led the project’s entitlement process and secured Art in Public Places (AIPP) approval for the artwork.

Though a static structure, “Orange Peel” is visually kinetic. Its unique form gives the illusion of movement as viewers walk or drive past. Constructed of powder-coated aluminum, the sculpture features a vivid orange sphere styled to resemble a peeled orange, standing 9 feet tall as the centerpiece. At the base, three white orange blossom flowers—each standing 4 feet tall—are arranged symmetrically around the sphere. With green anthers and crisp details, they add natural elegance and reinforce the sculpture’s distinctly Floridian theme. In front, a sleek grey powder-coated sign spans nearly 9.5 feet in width and stands 2 feet tall, clearly identifying “James Business Park.” With its bold color palette, organic forms, and dynamic presence, “Orange Peel” enhances the landscape of James Business Park while establishing a striking and memorable landmark in Westlake’s growing public art collection.
