New Art Coming to Palm Beach Gardens: The Great Egret

The Palm Beach Gardens City Council unanimously granted approval to Cotleur & Hearing for a new Art in Public Places (AIPP) installation. The new art piece, titled "The Great Egret," will be installed within Phase III of the Banyan Tree PUD along Northlake Boulevard. This stunning sculpture will be created by renowned artist Dan Shaughnessy IV, also known as DSIV, who has a strong track record of impactful and immersive art projects in Palm Beach Gardens, including "The Blooms" at Downtown Palm Beach Gardens. "The Great Egret" will be a 90-inch tall stainless steel sculpture, with a wingspan of 36 inches per wing and a length of 40 inches from bill to toes.

The piece will be crafted using the Stump + Hammer Technique, a method that Dan Shaughnessy IV has honed over two decades. This technique not only captures the intricate shapes and forms of the Great Egret but also gives the sculpture a sense of lightness and ethereality. We are excited to see "The Great Egret" take its place in Palm Beach Gardens, furthering our mission to enhance public spaces with meaningful and inspiring art.
