About Us
At Cotleur & Hearing, we don’t just design landscapes,
we shape experiences.

Since 1991, we’ve been blending creativity, innovation, and a deep appreciation for Florida’s landscapes to design environments that bring people together, celebrate nature, and enhance everyday life. From our home base in sunny Jupiter, Florida, we collaborate with a wide range of public and private clients across the state. Whether it’s a vibrant community park or a thoughtfully planned development, our goal is always the same, to deliver sustainable, people-centered design solutions that stand the test of time.
Our story began with two visionary landscape architects, Robert Cotleur and Donaldson Hearing, who set out to build a firm rooted in excellence and creativity. Today, that legacy lives on through our dynamic leadership team: Nicole Plunkett, Aaron Wilbur, Erin Bolin, Leah Heinzelmann, and George Missimer. Together, they’re steering the firm into the future with fresh ideas, bold thinking, and a shared passion for design that makes a difference.
CHanging the Way we live to preserve Where we live

We’re proud of our talented team of landscape architects, planners, graphic designers, and environmental specialists. Their collaborative spirit and multidisciplinary approach have earned us recognition and awards across a wide range of projects, from intimate gardens to large-scale master plans.
Our passion for design has earned widespread recognition across the landscape architecture industry. In 2018, our tropical modern approach to the I-95/I-595 Interchange Project earned an ASLA Florida Award of Merit, transforming a once-barren corridor into a lush, unforgettable gateway for South Florida travelers. That same spirit of restoration and innovation was recognized again in 2020, when we received an ASLA Florida Award of Merit for our work at Frenchman’s Reserve Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens—where we revitalized 49 acres of upland preserve, introduced native wildlife habitats (including four thriving bee colonies), and created a new short game golf area that blends seamlessly with the natural environment. In 2023, we were honored to be named one of the University of Florida’s Gator100, recognizing the fastest-growing businesses led by Gator alumni. Our design for the Crosstown Parkway Plaza in Port St. Lucie earned a 2024 ASLA Florida Award of Merit, celebrating our commitment to vibrant, community-driven public spaces. Most recently, in 2025, we proudly earned 2nd place in Golf Inc. Magazine’s “Renovation of the Year” for our transformation of the North Course at The Club at Quail Ridge—a project that beautifully blends environmental sensitivity with elevated playability.
As we continue to grow, our purpose remains clear, and it is reflected in everything we do.
