About the Project

Cotleur & Hearing was retained by Carrier Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies, to seek Zoning Entitlements and Master Site Planning to develop Phase 1, a 265,000-square-foot building, to house the Center for Intelligent Buildings and an associated 602-space parking garage within Parcel B of the Alton PCD. Carrier Corporation was founded by Dr. Willis Carrier, the inventor of modern air conditioning and whose contributions to efficient industrial production and human comfort over the next 50 years were so innovative that he became known as “The Father of Air Conditioning”. With this approval, Carrier Corporation will be headquartered in Palm Beach Gardens to serve as an international showcase of building systems. The facility demonstrates new building technologies for security, fire safety, building automation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, elevator, escalator, and refrigeration systems. The Center for Intelligent Buildings has been designed in a contemporary fashion to reflect the building’s purpose of developing cutting edge technologies and building systems. The building was designed with a glass wall on a portion of the east facing elevation as a means of highlighting the internal building systems that UTC specializes in developing. The building includes a fitness center, cafeteria, coffee bar, and other employee-focused uses to cater to the needs of the employees.
